Nightlife in Sharm El Sheikh

Sharm El Sheikh Nightlife

One of the most popular evening activities in Sharm El Sheikh are the open air nightclubs. Here you'll learn all about how you can add these to your Sharm travel plans.

Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

One of Egypt’s most popular tourist destinations is Sharm El Sheikh, which is situated along the coast of the Sinai Peninsula, and which boasts some of the world’s finest scuba diving.

The area did not see much development or tourist interest until the 1980s, when Egypt and Israel signed a peace agreement and the Israeli army withdrew from the peninsula all together. After that, development and improvement simply took off and today the town offers more than ninety world class resorts and hotels for its many diverse tourists.

The region is popular with dedicated and athletic scuba divers, families enjoying beach holidays and residents from cities like Cairo or Alexandria who would like to enjoy the sun, sand and luxurious accommodations. This means there is a wide range of nightlife required to satisfy such an eclectic blend of people.

The Night Clubs

One of the most popular evening activities are open air night clubs. Many of the hotels convert their courtyards into “techno” or house music hotspots several nights a week. This draws the traditional “clubbing” crowds who enjoy the elaborate light shows, trendy music and international crowd.

Other hotels stage traditional or regional floor shows which are family-friendly and mildly educational events meant to introduce guests to the foods, music and dances of the Egyptian and Middle Eastern cultures.

Currently there are also many night club entrepreneurs that have established popular and unique venues for visitors to safely enjoy, including discos and clubs where music and dancing are the most important activities.

Many of the chain and formal clubs have weekly theme nights that allow visitors to enjoy a wide variety of company, food and music. This includes such recognized restaurants as the Hard Rock Café and such local favorites as El Fanar which currently provides a beach party every Wednesday.

Visitors should check with their concierge or local guides to find out about regular events and which would be most appropriate to their interests.

Monlight Rides

A final event enjoyed during the evening hours is a moonlight ride to the Bedouin settlements outside of Sharm El Sheikh; many arrangements can be made to visit with the ancient desert people, and even to enjoy a meal and entertainment as their guest.

Sharm El Sheikh has three distinct regions and it is the Na’ama Bay portion of the town where most of the active nightlife occurs. Here the building planners created a well designed waterfront with paved walkways and garden paths that effectively connect many of the hotels to one another or to the waterfront itself. This facilitates easy movement throughout the neighborhood and gives Sharm El Sheikh one of the best reputations as a “Red Sea Riviera” hotspot.
