Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh

Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh

The hotels in Sharm El Sheikh are among the most luxurious resorts in Egypt. Seaside or closer to the center of town, you'll have all amenities you need.

The Red Sea Riviera

Sharm El Sheikh along the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt is currently one of the most sought out tourist destinations in the entire Arab world. Remarkably, it has really only been in existence as a tourist friendly spot since the 1980s. Following the departure of the Israelis after the signing of a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel the area has slowly evolved into a high quality tourist destination – now commonly known as the Red Sea Riviera. In fact, from 1982 when there were three resort hotels to the ninety one hotels existing in the year 2000, the area’s popularity continues to grow.

While many visit for the world class scuba diving in the warm waters of the Red Sea, many also come for the shopping, desert adventures such as camel trekking, quad riding and exploration as well as to make visits to Mount Sinai and the Monastery of St. Catherine. Other visitors come for unique food and social opportunities, including the chance to eat at some American fast food chains!

There is also a great deal of interest in the area due to its Bedouin population. Here visitors can see the beautiful tents and purchase the remarkable handicrafts of the ancient people.

All Hotels are Completely Modern

Because the area is still very young in terms of building construction and development, hotels in Sharm El Sheikh are completely modern, and for the most part are three to five star accommodations.

There is currently a nice array of all-inclusive resorts, nestled along the white sands of Na’ama Bay, or other options both in town and in private, walking distance to the shore.

The Most Popular Hotel Areas

Currently the most popular areas for hotels in Sharm El Sheikh include the three distinct “regions” of the town. Na’ama Bay which is the original location of the earliest resort hotels in the area currently boasts a completely developed sea front with paved walkways, gardens, restaurants, bars and cafes. This is the area where the town’s popular nightlife occurs.

The Ras Um Sid Cliff area is also home to many hotels in Sharm El Sheikh due to the proximity to the coral reefs and scenic cliffs. The area is less than five minutes driving time to the popular downtown destinations and the area’s well develop port.

The Sharm El Maya area is actually the “old town” of Sharm El Sheikh containing a very picturesque little bay that still plays host to many smaller boats. The beach is popular for sunbathing and the area currently offers more than five of the larger resort hotels in Sharm El Sheikh.
